I get a lot of requests from clients for a site that can do everything but is easy for them to manage themselves and this is my advise: Use a robust and flexible open source Content Management System like Joomla.
Content Management System Features
Easily manage every aspect of your website
Once Joomla! is installed and running, it is simple for even non-technical users to add or edit content, update images, and to manage the critical data. Anybody with basic word processing skills can easily learn to manage a Joomla! site.
User Groups and Access Control
Joomla has two main hierarchies for User Groups: one for access to the Front-end (so users can log in to the web site and view designated sections and pages) and one for Back-end Administration access.
Large commercial and community support
Joomla is one of the most popular CMS systems. It has a huge community of users as well as commercial providers and great support. It’s not going to disappear, it’s been around for a long time, and has just had a revolutionary new update/release that is a huge improvement to an already strong CMS.
Joomla is Open Source
Open source means it’s free to use and free to modify. There are many available open source and free extensions to enhance the CMS’s functions and great commercial extensions as well. You will not be charged a set up fee to use it, you can use it on your own server, and the enhancement capabilities are endless. Joomla has won many CMS awards and competitions and is considered by critiques to be the most powerful CMS in the world.
The difference between Joomla! and commercial solutions?
Unlike commercial solutions that offer different versions according to your budget, Joomla! is available in just one 'all encompassing' version - and it is free. Many commercial CMS solutions boast a vast array of modules - in some cases up to 80 of them. Joomla! offers an awesome amount of extensions that currently numbers at 3067. Joomla! has an active community of more than 100,000 (validated) friendly users and developers. If your company or organization hires a third party Joomla! developer such as myself to build in-house software using the Joomla! framework, you are building on an open platform that does not tie you to any one design company, developer or to a proprietary, closed application. You own your site and can develop it with anyone you choose.
Is a CMS website search engine friendly?
CMS offers the best platform to develop sites that meet all the SEO requirements. HTML layout is well formed with no nestled tables making it easy to read for crawlers. We can ensure that URL's do not have any query strings. The URL's can be of the type www.yoursite.com/pagename.html Such URL's are extremely Search engine friendly. Meta keywords can be defined at a global level (across the site) and also at page level.
What is LAMP technology?
As an effective alternative to expensive proprietary software, LAMP technology (Linux + Apache + MySQL + PHP) Open Source technologies are leading the websites and applications development market and have become the platform of choice for developing robust dynamic web solutions at an affordable cost.

More on Extensions
Another huge bonus of this solution is the flexibility of what you can add and do with it. As of today there are 4133 extensions, some are commercially done and cost a small fee but most of them are free. Additionally I have extensive experience altering, modifying and creating Joomla extensions if you can't find the perfect extension to do what you want.
